JPG vs RAW

JPG also known as JPEG stands for “Joint Photographic Expert Group”. It’s a common file format they reduce file size by discarding some image data. It can lead to slight loss of image quality. However, JPD files are supported and can be easily shared and viewed on various devices and platforms. RAW files refer to and unprocessed image file that contains all the data captured by the camera’s sensor without any compression or processing applied.

Unlike JPG, which use lossy compression and discard some image data, RAW files preserve all the details and information captured by the camera. JPG offers good image quality suitable for most everyday photography needs but repeated editing and saving of JPG files can lead to a decrease in quality. However RAW provides the highest image quality since it retains all the original data from the camera’s sensor. This allows for the extensive post processing without loss of quality.
